I just got a 7 inch ish (guessing) gar, it looks quite small compared to the ones ive seen on youtube.. When its breathing with its mouth i can see in and there appears to be no teeth? I was wondering if they grow in after a certain age or something? Any people know whats going on? :nilly: teeth are cool

It would be really helpful if you can post a pic of the said fish so we can tell if it's a true gar or not. Most likely a Florida gar if it wasn't caught by someone. Now as to the visible teeth thing, your not going to see teeth easily on most gars unless your talking about a gator gar especially at your (gar) current size. Trust me when I say that all true gars have teeth, most will feel them first before seeing them.

ill post a pic guys because i was curious whether it was a true spotted or a florida because i dont really know the difference. my lfs said its a spotted. ill put a pic on later. cheers.

I had some gars at various sizes the smallest was around 7 or 9 inches and the teeth was clearly visible at all times . theirs no denying a true gars grin hope they didnt mislabel a fish and sell it to you as a true gar.
