I also want to go for some carp. I saw one cruising the shallows one morning at a local lake. He looked to be easily 20 pounds. Sounds like a good challenge to me!

California is a good state for bass..so is Michigan

I really want to catch a carp, any size, because last year I went to Carp Fest. It was a fishing tournament and I caught about every other type of fish in the lake EXCEPT carp. Lol now I'm bound and determined to get atleast one!

they got the carp fest out here in MN aswell. i got hosed. i had a 12lb fish, then a kid got a 15lb fish. 10 mins after they called the tournament over, i caught a 30lbs carp. so instead of me getting the new boat and van some 12yr old kid got it with a 15lbs carp.

He was a common from what I could see. The hardest part about trying to catch carp at this lake is that they don't allow ANY boats or anything on it. You are only permitted to shorefish, and the big fish are out in the center of the lake, with the occasional exeption where a pickerel or a carp will come in to feed.

thats a hard thing to do since they are filter feeders and are most active at night.
