Yes I didn't believe artificial color ingredients until I saw this. And this is not only the brand, trust me, lots of food brands use the chemicals!!! See pictures...

Again my personal choice to stick with well known branded food suppliers. Tetra is great but well for flakes and brilliant FH food... Nay!!!!! ;-)

Beautiful kamfa you have there as well, strong flowerline and pearls are already so vibrant. He’s going to become a great looking fish. Keep up dating the post, would enjoy seeing how he progresses. Good job!

Thanks my friend, yes, head is just shaped, at least something is there, kamfa tends to have proportion head to their body, not the huge ones, so I will love it..

My fish is on a better staple diet now and has been that way for over a week. So no artificial ingredients are being pumped into my FH. Just proper attention and care.

Doing a great job on him... hump is getting a nice shape and good size!
Agree with the belly.. gotta watch how much you feed more often with smaller amounts is best imo.

But yes, got it under control already. Belly is back to normal. Took the advise of others and now just feeding every other day.

Just to add, I never have and never will feed my FH tetra goldfish flakes lol. But I get what you're trying to imply. I have been feeding a good brand food supplier being hikari for over a week now. And as stated, better results have come from that, therefore I do believe it's his base color.

In the response I quoted you in, I explained why I believe the colors you see in the picture are his base colors.

Sorry to revisit, just wanted to make it clear for the sake of the thread. But again, thanks for sharing that info!

Great progress thread, and you did good job raising him. Well, yes, okiko I don't like personally, and that's personal choice. NLS seems good, Hikari is regular. I didn't try northfin yet.

Food wise whatever you choose, feed him appropriate which you have been doing I guess, some FH, and it's my observation has a fat tummy, gets flat if we don't feed for a day or two, but gets back fat if just feed 3-4 pallets (May be a noticeable deformation)

Anyway, He is looking High Definition color which IMO is not his base color, this popping color comes when feeding the artificial coloration food. E.g. Okiko, or some brand head huncher, etc.

Anyway, he is long nose Flowerhorn, I like the short mouth one, the one I am keeping is kamfa traits which is well known for his baby face.

Overall, all about personal choice, but most importantly how you connect with him, the more you connect, the more he grows, because you give him TLC what he needs, and that is all about keeping any pet. When you plant a tree, you automatically know how to care to have it become fruitful tree!!

Edit: we rarely see FH thread on MFK forums, many keepers don't like much hybrids thus not seeing them regularly LOL!!

Decided that i’m not updating this post anymore, found that it’s taking away from the actual enjoyment of raising my FH. So am just getting out of it now.

Wanted to share with the FH community my progression but was met with criticism. Just because my FH has vibrant colors and is deep red i’m accused of using artificial colors? That it’s not his base color and implying he’s uglier than pictured lol. Dont really understand that concept. Ever thought it’s just because he actually is that red and vibrant by nature? Cant comprehend why you chose to discredit all the work i have been putting in to make him develop into his full potential and accuse me of cheating in some way.

I get it everyone loves kamfa’s. So ill just enjoy my FH without the critics from now on.

Really just frustrating when i think he’s turning out amazing and then people just list deformities, how kamfa’s are better, and how his colors are from artificial food coloring which is not even possible.

No hard feelings, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Just want to enjoy the progression and growth of my FH in peace now.

I was surely into the discussion about the food and not the color of your FH.

My first FH, don't have photo, had the same thing, XO red, the food name and he turned bright, I noticed he was having some dark spots on the fins! I then stopped that food and came back to hikari.

I didn't criticize your pet, again, he is stunning that's what I said.

NOW READ all my posts, I am being positive in every reply, otherwise, I don't reply at all.

Moreover, no hard feeling, and this is my first kamfa, I am not into the kamfa, but to my knowledge, it was hard getting good SRD which I just ordered from Thailand. Kamfa or SRD I just love all pets.

You care DEFINITELY REPORT my replies to moderator here if you want! That does not change my opinion about lousy foods in the market. I was just trying to give you right direction that some products use artificial colors, which I posted the photo about ingredients....

I don't care if anyone does NOT agree with me, It doesn't change or impact my experience keeping FH since 10 years.

My Fish the videos I shared is the most ugliest, I know i have been cheated by seller, however, didn't pay huge price for getting him so I am trying to provide good care, water, and environment!
