Even if there's millions it means nothing to us they are still banned from export from Thailand
I wouldn't want to mess with a thia jail would you

If it just jail time, then it's ok, it's worth the risk. Thai jail isn't that bad at all.

Last time I heard it's capital punishment, same offense as smuggling drugs.

I can't imagine sitting in a Thai jail as being a pleasant experience and not sure what it means over there but capital punishment in this country means the offender will be put to death....not a very appealing fate to look forward to just for the crime of smuggling a fish.
It's great that such a nice sized fish was found in that water but too bad it was dead. The export ban is also a good thing for the species as long as something is being done about the fishing of the ST for human consumption....otherwise there is no point in banning them.

Sounds like a pretty effective deterrent.

The point I was making is that I hope there are still a few knocking about for the sake of the species in the wild, however I would still like to own one, who wouldn't.

I think it's a case of people all say they want ST because we can't get them if we could get them I wonder how many people would pay the extra for them

It's like Asian aro in the US everyone says they want them but if they could have them I wonder how many people would pay the money for them
We can have them in the UK but not everyone has them

Having kept jardini before I progressed to Asian Aro, and then I had HRTG and a super red, I would happily pay decent money for a decent fish and also the same is with Dats, I've had a couple of Indo for a while, one very large, but must admit I do prefer ST, I'm in the market for a new Datnoid and one I would like to keep long term. From what is available I would prefer a 3 bar as I prefer the uncluttered look of a few less bars, but if an ST became available and funds allowed I'd buy the ST, first and foremost because I prefer them. Sure, there's a degree of 'celebrity' status around them, due to the rarity and increased demand/desire goes with that rarity. We always want what we can't have, it's part of our makeup.

If you're gonna aim for something, aim high.

See I think you can get just as good from a 3 bar as a ST you just need to hunt for them and look at as many tank fulls as you can

I was just luck to be keeping tigers when ST was available
I would never sell mine now as it would be just like killing it as it wouldn't travel that well

It's no big deal to me ST or IT
That's probably easy to say when I own a ST
