well i have never bought wood?????? first stand iam going to make as i dont want to pay £200 for a wooden stand. so does that mean every piece of wood is smaller like a 48 is 47.5? iam proberly making this more confusing, if i say what i want at the shop they'll get the right stuff?

I imageine it's the same in the UK, but I would check just to make sure. Just tell them at the shop and they'll give you what you need. Just make sure to remember that they're not really 2 x 4s when you're building. Only don't make a 2" gap for something if it really should only be 1.5" which I did a while back b/c I just forgot and it can make you :swear: It's always better to measure twice and cut once...

i will get them all cut and measured there, 1 i cba doing it and messing up and it doesnt cost alot. i will try and get some done before i leave for florida but might not be able too.....iam a noob at this so how long would you estimate it would take if i already have it cut out ect

I built the one for my 75 in one night over the period of just a couple hours. Well, it took a little longer than that b/c mine was a room divider so I had to do drywall and crap, but if you're doing playwood, it shouldn't be too bad. you should be able to get it built over a weekend. Might be a little longer if you're gonna stain/trim and that kind of stuff... I even built a shelves in mine.

Nominal dimensions are used really only in 2x lumber and the length is in actual dimensions, plywood is measured in Actual dimensions(but the width will be a bit smaller).

ok i will proberly get the stuff 2morrow.....iam still mixed up it says 2by4 and if the lumber is 1.5by3.5 does that mean it wont fit and does this applie to the other measurements?i no iam a newbie, if i write down what i want and give them 2 the shop owner he will get the right stuff? this is doing my head in cause iam tired

If you hand them the GARF.com plans he should give you the right stuff.

Trust me in the professional a 2x4 will always be 1 1/2''x 3 1/2'', and they know not to give you a real 2''x4'' piece of lumber. Just don't even mention anything about not knowing, just say a 2x4 and you get a 1 1/2''x3 1/2'' piece of lumber... You may end up confusing the guy and messing up the GARF plans.
