2 1/2" coarse thread should be fine. different color screws means different applications so read before you buy. in the 2 by world, every number that it says is 1/2" smaller. So a 2x12 is 1.5x11.5.

The length of the lumber is always what it says, but the other two are a half-inch less. A 2x4 8 feet long will actually be 1.5x3.5 and 8 feet long.It's confusing, just give him the GARF plans like said before, he'll know what to get.
Just tell the guy at the store what you're doing and everything and he should be able to help you most likely...
ok i went to the shop and i was talking to him about it and he said he wasnt 100% certin that it would hold all that wieght and said i should ask someone at a fish shop so i thought i'd ask you's. so will it take the wieght and he was quite suprised that the was no brackets involved also i looked at the plan and not all the measurements add its to tall and wide i think.
so it will be 100% fine and if everythink gets done properly i will be fine? the wood and screws cost about £60$120 and the lfs ther stand was £150$300
