I've been toying with ideas on raising the stock stand (it has a lifetime warranty if on stand so here we are). I'm debating on 4x4s but may go 2x6 inner with 2x8 outer even thought about cinder block with 2x8s on them to get more clearance.

Will just shimming the riser be ok? I'm really unsure with shimming the wood under blocks.

Any better ideas or any experiences with doing this?

Ive seen people do a 4x4 frame and just put the stand right on top. I imagine its plenty sturdy and you can paint it whatever color to match easy enough. Thats what i would do.

I think you're right and ill just have to make it work. If I could find a 75g with different dimensions for a decent price that would solve most of the issue. Do away with some of the height and add length

Yeah i was gonna say if you start buying cinder blocks or a bunch of 4x4s it would almost be more cost effective to build a 2x4 stand to your specs.

Agree. If you build a platform out of lumber you can build it level (make it taller on one side than the other). I would never use hollow block under an aquarium.
If you build a new stand you can make it much stronger than what is shown in the picture. One thing is bracing. It's a good idea to sheath the outside as much as possible so the whole thing doesn't rack when loaded.

I just got the wood today to reinforce the stand. If I build my own it voids warranty. I'm doing this stuff discretly so I can switch back to norm if need be. No freaking way I'm putting over 2k lbs on that stock stand without better vertical support

Post a photo(s). I'd be glad to weigh in. Where is the warranty from? Local shop or store?

Warranty is through manufacturer.

This is what I'm doing.

I started thinking about shims and the 4x4 idea worried me. So I started thinking of running a 2x6 for a channel for the stand to sit on then sandwiching it between 2x8s with horizontal bracing. I would get an extra few inches of clearance, but I think I just need to add more brackets then suck up the 4x4 route.
