I am just wondering what you guys recommend / are doing in the ways of stands.

I have a 180 gallon tank, and currently it is sitting on a sheet of plywood that is EXACTLY the same as the outside dimensions of the tank, and then sits on top of the stand itself.

Should I be using something else? Or is the plywood good? I have heard of people using large sheets of that pink insulation Styrofoam, but that doesn't look like it would hold up under the pressure of this much water...

Glass or acrylic tank? Do you know who manufacturers the aquarium?

The plywood isn't doing anything. If the stand is wood its best to have the legs under the tank so that the tank is supported by the wood and not the screws.

Good job reading the post. It clearly states it in the drawing that it is a metal square tube frame.

+1 towards your post count though.

Read the post twice but missed it in the pic, excuse me for trying to help.

I think you will be just fine using the 1/2" plywood. Now if this is a brand new aquarium, I would definitely contact the mfg. to see what their recommendation is. I checked their website but it doesn't offer a FAQ section for the subject.

Truthfully, I had to double check your post when I saw the stand design but then did notice the square tube steel frame.

Wow good luck getting help talking to people like that.

Glass tanks should have the trim resting on the stand, not the glass itself. The pink styro is for acrylic tanks only.
