yup thats why you don't buy warped boards...

Good luck with that one! I have gone through all of Home depots "grade A" boards and found only 6 out of 2 pallets of 2x4s.

Try a real lumber yard...May cost a little more, worth it. I don't know why, but I have 3 in town.

I'm in a tiny little town, and we have 2 lumber yards. One doesn't know the difference between oak and pine, and one has boards in worse shape than HD. HD is actually a half an hour drive for me.

No Lowes ?

No lowes... however Lowes has lower quality wood IME.

Lower than HD ?

Interesting, it must be a regional thing...

I actually have no problem finding decent line, clear boards either place.

I've never found wood that I though was good enough at either. However for Lumber HD was better than Lowes. Both generally are pretty bad, and that is in Wa, and Id.

Ouch ! I feel for you.

Maybe we should all weld our stands that way we could just glue 1/4" paneling to the outside and be done. :D

I have seen 180g held up by only 4 2x4 legs with all the weight on screws. without any wood to wood support. lol

I hope not at your house. That is an accident waiting to happen.

I must have missed that post! Toxicfish... if that is the case than that person is very lucky. 4 2x4s don't have enough strength to hold even a 100 gallon aquarium much less a 180. THe screws, unless really big and stainless, will eventually give, they aren' t made to hold weight perpendicular to the shaft. Even a 3/8 lag would be too weak to hold that kind of weight. They would be better off putting the tank on a table than that.
