Started the Ray pond this week

just a thought about lighting. I searched the pages here and found some good some bad comments about coralife products. Big Als opened up down the street from my place and are using them above their open tanks. The are slim and discrete and just look good. My wife does not want to put a big light above the pond that blocks the window, or a light that is just plain ugly.

in Canada a 72" light is $1300. are there any more inexpensive options that still look good. that is almost the price of a lea and I don't want to disapoint Nic and not put the black ray in the tank.

were are you going to mount the light i don't think you will need any thing with high out put with the underwater lights?
tank is looking great by the way what day are you on now you must be close to filling it up

Go with 2 or 4 "4' T6 commercial lights" and build your own housing. You seem to have the handyman part down so this should be a snap for you. 4' are cheaper than 8' and commercial lighting is cheaper than aquarium trade.

the underwater lights really wont have a lot of penetration. I know I could build some lights easily, but it is the estheatics that I could not finish
