I would focus on rock, sand, and filtration. If you want to help the tank, take a small cup full of sand from his tank and mix that in with your. This established bacteria will move about and populate within your tank. the efficiency of either method is small but helps.

No signs of ammonia yet...

some kits will incorporate certain tests that will work for both. Just make sure the test will work saltwater.
the little cards say that the ammonia test kit and nitrate test kit are just freshwater but the ammonia test kit results look just the same as yours

its hard to see the ammonia test kit. Whats it at? The shrimp will most likely fall apart which is the need behind the nylon. Has the ammonia peaked at all. If not add another shrimp and get them both going. Otherwise strait ammonia will work.

nope it didn't spike at all....im thinking about trying the damsel fish my teacher at school recommended it and laughed at me when i said the fish suffered:(

stay the course.. if your teacher laughs at animal cruelty kick him in the nuts and say that's not cruel...

straight ammonia is a sure way to get results...
