refugiums a waste of time? the macroalgae does much more than feed your fish - that's just one of the side benefits.

^ :werd:

nitrate remover, copepod production, detritus collection, and can also be a holding tank for mean fish damaged corals or pretty much anything else you'd want to seperate from your show tank

no im saying for a system like that a hob fuge is a waste of time. nitrates are removed by macro algaes nothing you cant have in the display. coepepods can grow and reproduce in the display. in such a small tank the fish options are rather limited and most people use fuges for macro algae in tanks where things eat the macro. imo save the cash and get a hob skimmer. i do agree on them being a seperate quarantine. i use fuges as well just not hob fuges.

well i was dumb enough to try keeping macro in my show tank (for nitate removal) trust me it's a bad idea....

the shrimp disinigrated guys and there was never a spike in ammonia....

some algae started to form now is going away my teacher told me it could either be good or bad algae caused by the lighting how does it look...also a small little pink circle fuzzy thing is on the live rock looks like an organism of some sort
