Starting Massive Cichlid Breeding Ground ~2500 gallons

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
What I would do is section off the pond, meaning havng tall, peices of slate placd on gravel acting as walls to break the line of sight. Also texas holey rock/lace rock and driftwood, lots of it would be great. Try and create lots of surface area for bacteria to grow for the fry to snack on. How do you plan on feeding them?

This is my current pond that I house my big boys in..

For those asking the filter will be similar to the one pictured here. This pond is ~1100 gallons and this one is for my bruisers.. The filters pictured below are what filters it..

i think if you want a higher success rate, you might be better off breeding the adults in tanks and using the pond for growing out. that massive amount of water will help them put on size really quickly. of course you need to put fry that are about the same size in there or else they will become fish food.

This is your best shot at getting the most fry i can't wait to see your pond stocked full of cichlids keep the pics coming.

Im not really wanting hundreds of fry... I just want to be able to look in my pond a year from now and be like, well that guy wasnt stocked in there. And see several fish that were raised up from fry...

I dont want to raise hundreds because I dont have room and I dont want to get into selling. Just enough to have fun and be able to have like my own little part of cichlid nature :)
