I am starting my fish store-- It's going to be in my basement, and I am going to try local sales, ebay, aquabid and have a website..

I want to get as much coverage as I can because I found a kick @$$ showroom for rent that would be the ultimate fish store, and if I do it right with a partner, it would be manageable with profit.

I want to know what I should stock to start? I want to get some breeding programs up and running to lower my costs over time, but until then I need to get my list ready.

ANY ideas will be taken into consideration. (Please, nothing illegal)

I would start off with the more hardy fish to get you going like cichlids -most african are pretty hardy and tropicals - danios, tiger barbs, cherry barbs (most barbs are hardy), once you get going then add the more delicate ones like rams, angelfish, loaches Good Luck

+1 Get bread and butter fish firsts. Fish anyone could keep, and maybe after you get some money and are a stable store start getting rare fish then maybe some salt if there is demand for it.

And try to offer other things too. Like maybe setting up tanks for people who bought a new one for you, or maybe a cleaning service, stuff other fish stores near you don't do.

And make a system you can filter all tanks through like one big tank that is cleaned and sends water back too the tanks. And make valves to shut tanks off incase they are infected with ich or something.

Well it matters what equipment are you going to be using... 20 gallon tanks or huge tanks and ponds? If going big, go with what he^ said..

I have a 300 gallon stock tank-360 gallon water stock tank- 2000+ intex pool, and the 1500 gallon indoor tank that will be empty come summer.

I also have a drop in liner that I plan on using for small rays- if I get into them.

I am going small to XL- 5 gallons and up.

I have got a ton of different things I am going to offer- tank cleaning etc..

I just want to know what stock.. and salt is no where in the near future. - maybe in about a year..

I have the money and means to house any fish I would get for a long amount of time if need be, so I want to just get a list going.

Daaaamnnn.. Definitely go for stingrays in those ponds.. As for the small tanks, get some cool apistos, shrimp, and hypan plecos.. All guaranteed to sell due to there beauty and some to rarity..
