Just wanted to let everyone know about an issue I had with these heaters.
In May '05 I bought two 200 watt Stealths from Pet Solutions.
After 6 months, one started sticking on, so I just unplugged it since the other one was keeping temp. fine on it's own.
About a month ago, I noticed a "bulge" on the side of the working one, and decided to start looking at new heaters before this one gave up as well.
You may or may not know that the Stealths have a lifetime warranty, so a phone call to Pet Solutions was in order.
They informed me that the warranty was done through he manufacturer, and provided me with a contact number.
A second phone call to Marineland on Tues. resulted in two brand new heaters showing up with UPS today.

If anyone has contemplated buying these heaters, I would say Yes just for this fact alone.

I told the man the problem I had and he took care of it. No hassle.
Period.
Congrats to Marineland CUSTOMER SERVICE !! :headbang2
When I setup any more tanks, my first and only choice will be Stealth

very good to know, i have looked into the stealths alot and i will be getting them for all my future large tanks.

Sorry to hear that koliveira. I'm sure that's always a possiblity with anything submerged in water and plugged into a recptacle, be it heaters, powerheads, etc.
I've heard both good and not so good things from lots of people about lots of equipment.
The thing is, no one product is perfect, either in and of itself, or for every person.
For a company to stand behind it's product after a year of use with basically no questions asked, no request for proof of purchase, and no request for the return of the defective items, is pretty well unheard of these days.
I wasn't praising the quality (after all, both of mine bit the dust) so much as the service.

good to know its no hassle if something does go wrong. stealth appears pretty solid so far.

did you cross-ship the defective heaters or did they not want them at all?

reading this is comforting as i have a visitherm deluxe for my oscar which also has a lifetime warranty i believe

After 6 months, one started sticking on

How can you know when they are sticking on? Besides the obvious temp rise. They dont have a "on" light.
