Stealth Pro Heater Recall!!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Cool, I thought I'd thrown mine out.. but I found two 150 W Stealths in a random "aquarium stuff" bin at home so I'm going to take them to Petsmart for credit today.

They finally did the right thing after destroying many dreams and breaking many hearts.

I think its pretty sweet that petsmart is doing this. I actually got the 4 I return for trade at a LFS for coral frags then return them to petsmart for cash! I even told them before I brought them in. The manager at petsmart said it didnt matter.

just returned my 200 watt for 40 bucks cash. The manager was very uninformed on the situation and basically had no idea they were recalled, apparently I was the first one to come to the store for a return. I printed out the two letters from this thread, without them, I would have gotten no where. Good thing Marineland is finally doing this.

I returned a 100W and 150W to Petsmart with the email in hand. The only snag was, they gave me store credit for two 100s because they said they don't even sell the 150W. Honestly, I would have thrown out the 150w anyway because it wasn't working well, so it was a great deal.

I took in 5 of the old Stealth heaters yesterday, walked out with $213 in store credit. Now the problem is what to buy with the money, since everything is overpriced!! :)

I can also verify that they're returning and doing cash even though I had to ask. I had no receipt and all I had in-hand was a 200 watt heater. She knew what was going on and did the return while I went to grab a new siphon. When I returned she deducted the siphon and wanted to give me store credit for the balance saying that was what they do when you have no receipt. All I said was 'But I paid cash' and she didn't even miss a beat calling a manager over to override it and handed me the ~$26 in cash out of the drawer. I bought a Titanium heater from AmericanAquariumProducts.com that's it's been working great and I'm getting ready to move to a larger aquarium shortly so this recall was really good timing for me. I got no email so thanks OP and thanks MFK!
