I can also verify that they're returning and doing cash even though I had to ask. I had no receipt and all I had in-hand was a 200 watt heater. She knew what was going on and did the return while I went to grab a new siphon. When I returned she deducted the siphon and wanted to give me store credit for the balance saying that was what they do when you have no receipt. All I said was 'But I paid cash' and she didn't even miss a beat calling a manager over to override it and handed me the ~$26 in cash out of the drawer. I bought a Titanium heater from AmericanAquariumProducts.com that's it's been working great and I'm getting ready to move to a larger aquarium shortly so this recall was really good timing for me. I got no email so thanks OP and thanks MFK!
Nice! I didn't even think to ask about cash, didn't think it would work. Makes no difference to them really, since I'm sure Marineland is paying them back for all the heaters that get returned.

Another option is to trade them in for Visi-Therm heaters.

I took in two Stealth-Pros to Petsmart and got $80.00 in credit but, like Jcardona says, everything is overpriced. I bought some frozen food and have a credit for the rest.

I didn't even think about the two old Stealth (not "pro") heaters I have, so today I called Marineland. More Petsmart credit didn't seem all that attrative, so I asked about trading them for Visi-Therm heaters. He is sending me the Visi-Therm heaters and return shipping labels for the old Stealths.

To me this is a better option than any of the heaters that PetSmart carries (which is what I really need).

If you got stuck with credit and you really want your cash but the store isn't budging. Buy something that's overpriced with the credit. Then return it the next day with the receipt. Bam, Cash return.

Just saying.

Mike

PS: I replaced my Pro's with an Aqua Via Titanium 300W. It occured to me that I had a 50 Watt of the same heater for the last 10 years and have been using it without issue. So why not try their higher Wattage heater. I set it to 78 and the 150, and the 47 are both reading at 78. And that's with the 500 GPH Mag drive, and FX5 running. As well as a Rena 400 pumping air into the tank.

I thought of that, but won't most places give it back to you in store credit?

Per their website:

If you made your original purchase with a gift card and are returning it, you'll be issued a merchandise return card.

Glad I poked around in this section... I'll be taking mine back tomorrow. :)

Too bad I already bought a bunch of jagers to replace them though.

I just took the credit. Considering I didn't even buy my heater at petsmart and olny paid 20 bucks shipped for it used. I think I made out with my 35.00 credit. I [lan on using to get a Fluval Edge.

i took mine back to where i bought it and they gave me a hydor 300watt as a replacement and i also picked up a 200watt as well

I think thats a great idea. If i cant get cash back, i might get a Fluval Edge myself. I always thought it was cool little tank.

Forgot to ask, how much is the fluval edge running for at petsmart right now?
