Does this include the Aqueon Pro heaters? I'm confused if this is all one Manufacturer at this point...

No, this does not include Aqueon. Different company. I have two Aqueon Pro's and love them. I'm hoping to replace my 4 Stealth with Aqueon's.

Hmmm.. I had one of the non-Pro versions for a while and had no issues. Upgraded to the Pro version when they came out and haven't had a single problem yet. Glad I found this thread though because I'm going to take mine because now I'm paranoid. I also need a larger heater since I'm moving everything over to a larger tank so this is actually perfect timing for me. Sorry to hear it's not as good timing for others though.

Now, what to get...

Does anyone know if you can you use the store credit online? Do they give you a gift card if you decide not to use the credit right away?

I bought a Stealth Pro Heater about a year ago. It worked great for several months, then one day I noticed my tank temp had dropped a few degrees. For some reason, the heater just quick working. No explosion, cracks, etc. I called the company (Marineland/United Pet) and they said they would replace my heater. I sent the defective one back and received a new one. This new one maintains the temp around 77 F even though it is set at 80 F.
Ironically, I received an email yesterday from Drs Foster and Smith with the same information most of you have received from Petsmart. I plan on calling Foster and Smith later to day and see about returning the current heater.

So I called Petsmart and they said I can bring in any heater I have for exchange store credit.

Now my question, I have these guys here:
(visi therm stealth)
Marineland-stealth.jpg

Are they still covered under Petsmart's volunatary 'recall'? Or is it only for these?
(Stealth PRO)

large-MARINELAND%20STEALTH%20PRO%20HEATER.jpg

I just brought 2 of the Visi therm stealths in to petsmart. 250W each and both were blown up!
I also brought a Stealth PRO in 150W that worked

All 3 of these i got from Drsfosterandsmith.com

I brought both these types of heaters in and there were no questions. just printed the email and i got to swap for WHATEVER heaters i want to replace them with. I was looking at the fluvals and there not fully submersible so i had to pass, also there glass:irked:

ended up getting 200w, 150w and 50w Aqueon Pros. ive never had experience with these so im keeping the box and reciept so that in 60days if i dont like them or marineland starts selling quatily heaters out i will exchange them. again any marineland stealth pro 100W and bigger are off the shelves. These Aqueon's look very nice though, shatterproof and they have the led lights

all in all im happy, i traded 2 broken heaters and got new ones. over $100 retail in heaters. I guess they just send marineland the bill and get their money back. Works for me :headbang2

I find it sadly ironic that marineland makes a shatterproof heater made out of thermal plastic yet it kills your fish anyway because of poor quality control..:screwy:

Most notably by spontaneously shattering

What does PetSmart have in-store that would be a good option for a 72gal? I prefer not waiting for something shipped and would like to hand over this one and get one at the same moment. Maybe I'll just take the credit and order a Via Aqua Titanium in 200 watts and then return this one to PetSmart when the new one arrives for store credit. Seems like about the best option at the moment as I kind of want to try a Titanium heater based on what I've read anyway.
