I was just looking over the stingray info again on what to do if you get stung thread. And they say that if the sac is broken before penitration it can be disappated before you get stung. Possible you didn't have any/much venom on the stinger.

What exactly is the damage that the stingray venom do to the human body?

In a TV interview awhile back, I described it like this:

Take a large, bent, rusty needle and inject yourself with gasoline. Wait a few minutes for it to soak in, then light it on fire.

A good hit from a freshwater ray will turn necrotic quickly. You need to have it properly cleaned ASAP. I've been tagged a few times, and none of them are times I wish to repeat again. If you had a kid take a good shot from a large adult ray worst case would be death, but it is possible.

You paint a vivid picture. My curiosity is stamped out by your description of pain.

I swish them into a net and move them with tweezers just to be safe.....

I picked a stinger last night.. half of it has skin on it, I picked up from the boney side (The end used to attach to the tail) nothing happened... but then i again, i dont know how long the stinger had been in the water
