super aggressive and eating a lot would lead me to believe that he's not that stressed. With that in mind he looks to be jag or dovii + something else

It looks like a juvenile dovii.

looks like a young female dovii. Stress coloring would undoubtedly be from the netting.

Possibility of being a Lake Victoria cichlid as well - I don't know a ton about them but I do know a few look similar in coloration and body shape.

the body shape is the one thing that is throwing me off the most. Under normal conditions, hes got only the lateral line across the side with some dark grey along the dorsal fin and body. He just looks too elongated to be a dovii or a jag although i really hope he is one because he only cost me $1.50!

Did you get him from an LFS? If so and they had him labled as a hybird it's probably true.
