looks like a hybrid to me. look at the mouth it reminds me or a snook, or a dat.

i was thinking a same thing...but the bars remind me of a convict alot...

THAT IS A JUVIE DOVII. THE PIC IS A STRESSED DOVII. I'M SURE BY NOW ITS NOT SO STRESS ANYMORE. YOU CAN SEE HIM/HER LOOKING LIKE THAT IN THE MORNING OR WHEN YOU TURN ON THE LIGHTS WHEN THEY ARE SLEEPING/RESTING AT NIGHT. NO WAY YOU CAN MISTAKE THAT FOR A JAG OR ANYTHING ELSE. STILL SMALL TO SEX AND LOOK FOR CANINES AS IT GROWS.

how big do these guys get, and are there any tank mates for him/her that i could keep? i know they are aggressive but if i could id like to keep tank mates with it.

if i'm not mistaken dovii can get 20"+ but it's rare for them to get over 18". you'd be better off keeping it solo in a tank. check out balton's videos, they're some of the best you'll see of a dovii.

male dovii can get over 24" in the right conditions most only get 18" because their owners kept them in to small of a tank, not enogh varity in their diet, poor water conditions exc. dan at TNT aquatics (tiny28) had a 24" male but i think he sold it.
