Still no @tlindsey ?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I've been searching through the old MFK awards threads. Believe it or not there is an actual "honoury members" award! See snapshot below.

This is dished out for deceased members. However, there is a very obvious flaw with this award, given the potentially sad nature of this particular thread. How the hell do you know if a member has actually died or just got bored and moved on?

Obviously, you need to be extremely certain they've passed before issuing them a posthumous award. How embarrassing to issue such an award and then that member log in again some months later!!!!

If a member has passed, and it has been confirmed on the forum, somehow, god knows how given how we currently operate, then it would be fitting to open up a thread and pay our respects in that area. Give them an MFK send off if you will.

Hendre Hendre , I'm curious who came up with this concept of honoury membership, and how the hell it's meant to operate!!!

I assume one would have to find a relevant obituary. Many members here collaborate outside MFK confines, think that was moreso in the past. I think somebody who knew/knows him well enough should be able to confirm any news of the sort.

Hope this is not him and he’s just taking a break. No offense Tom, if you come back to see this. Everyone is just worried about you

Tom was last seen on the forum mid April. If he has died, perish the thought, then I would be looking for an obituary around that time, June seems a bit late......unless he fell ill in April, hence his sudden inactivity, and his health deteriorated to such an extent that he passed in June. That time frame seems very plausible, but guy wrenchingly difficult to process.

Come on Tom, we're rooting for you.

I saw this one before but didnt really track at first. I had thought tlindsey was an ohioan and that guy was a lifelong michigan resident. But, after i admittedly did some deeper stalking across the web, i found that he worked in landscaping for a substantial part of his career, which seems to line up with the obituary along with his passion for hunting and fishing. No mention of aquaria though.

But hell, you would never find me based on my MFK profile info....

I went into Toms profile and if you dig around and go to the "about" section, he has put in a few details there.

The most concerning details for me are the facts that he is indeed from Ohio, and more crucially he also refers to himself as "Tom Lindsey Sr", the same info on that obituary. Is this really our Tom?

Could he have fell ill in April, so ill that he didn't log onto the forum, hence his disappearance around that time? Then maybe he gradually deteriorated culminating in his passing two months later?

The hunting and fishing part of the obituary also fit in with Tom's interests.

😔😔😔😔😔

The name "Tom Lindsey" would seem to be a fairly common one; isn't it a bit of a reach to find an obit for that name from a different state and link it to the person with whom we are concerned? At least I hope it is...

Maybe I am misuderstanding something here; that obit is from a Michigan newspaper, and it describes the deceased as a lifelong resident of that town in Michigan...not Ohio...

Well at least that gives us a glimmer of hope then. I wrongly assumed that P phreeflow had dug that obituary up from the state of Ohio. I had no idea that Newberry is in actual fact situated in Michigan. Phew!

However, whichever way you look at it, his sudden disappearance is still all extremely disconcerting.

This obit was definitely for a yooper- UP Michigan resident no where near Ohio. The obit had family in upper wisconsin as well. Marquette is where my cousins went to college and one still is there permanently perhaps. Beautiful area. Half of my family are in Michigan so immediately kind of doubted it was the same person as location seems wrong.

Tlindsey knows people in Ohio did transcations in Ohio with at least one MFKer here (wolf fish) another Ohioian and seems to be part of Ohio Cichlid Association with quick search. He did proclaim some support for Michigan state for a sport I long forgotten about. So who knows. He did state he was new to breeding fish back in 2011ish? So that obit might not include the newer hobby later in life if that indeed was his obit. Yep i did my disclaimer and do hope hes really okay.
