I have a female black diamond stingray, as well as a male black diamond hybrid. Ive had the female since the beginning of November. Ive noticed lately she's been breathing fast, still eats 1 to 2 times a day (dew worms, pellets and silversides) im just worried there's something going on. Still seems somewhat active but does spend a fair amount of time sitting in the corners breathing fast. Has not put a ton of size on, maybe 2" in the last 4 months.

My male seems to be fine and doesn't breath fast like she does.

I have added 2 12" peacock bass in about a month ago, but they dont seem to bother the rays at all.

Water quality should be superb. 7.4ph, 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite, 20ppm nitrates (my water supply has 10ppm out of the tap) i run roughly 100g per day drip system. 60 to 70% water change once every 2 weeks just cause. Tank is 470g with 135g sump. 2 cubic ft of k1 and 2 big sheets of matala mat.

Definitely would appreciate any input. Maybe im being to cautious, but I have a feeling something isn't right, i have noticed white stringy poop in the tank on multiple occasions, possible worms? Would she live the past 4 months with worms and still eat? Im in Canada so I might be limited to medications.

Id like to post a video on here but not sure how I could go about that. Here's a picture anyway.

Thanks everyone!

Typically she would be off her food if it was a water quality or illness.
Is the males calipers rolled & ready? Her disc edge seems intact, but is the male harassing and tryna breed her?

Hmm yeah thats kinda what I figured to... he is still young not mature. But he is bigger then her. He is 11" and she is about 8". No sort of breeding aggression. He does like to cover her up sometimes but I've never seen him nip at her.

Sounds like you have your answer then. You may need to consider adding a 2nd female to divide his attention 🤗

My male used to try to do that to my females but their discs were all 4-6” bigger than him so they could shake him off easily. Your female is smaller. Anytime he covers her completely is gonna be suffocating & very stressful to her. Like someone pushing a pillow you can’t breathe through over your face.
If she stops eating from the stress I would suggest dividing them, or moving her until she is bigger than him. She’s too beautiful to risk losing.
