Stingray Export Ban cancellation

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
as for the quota, it is said to release but only a small amount, once the quota is hit, they will stop the whole thing and will re consider even to open for 2010.

I don't think price will go down since most breeder in asian and europe will snatch them off.

They just banned plecos, why would they lift the ray ban?

Yes and they even stay banned. I got also document about the plecos...

IBAMA has established quotas for "aquaristic " purposes of the breeds contained in Annex II to the document and of a disk size not larger than the diametre mentioned in said Annex II.

Rays can only be collected by State of Amazonia and Pará entities. The document then contains rules about their transportation across Brasil and very clearly states the rules for their export.

I would, therefore, say that the Ban is off, with delays for yearly permits obtention starting in November 08. Rays should begin to be exported in 09.

yes ray will be export but with quota and they have not even decide to open for 2010, i guess and would say rays will still mantain a stable price.

not much different from now.

Alex it was not my intention to offend you. It was a joke that could be taken harshly when misread. I apologize to you for that.

an anecdote to the above: china, malaysia, thailand, singapore, japan, taiwan just to name a few countries have pretty much filled the quota already. maybe a few to europe., as for the USA??? did anyone get them...??? Mike?

You better believe I am getting some, they sre supposed to show in few months. The ban is still in effect and will not be lifted there will only be a small quota allowed out. Who really knows what will happen, if they do get released I will get some and TRUST ME THE PRICE OUT OF BRAZIL IS VERY HIGH, MORE EXPENSIVE THEN CAPTIVE BRED RAYS ALOT MORE. There will be no price drop.

Its not really hard to get some rays from brazil then and price is compare to breeder prices much cheaper....

Price drops for sure....

i've been offered, of course imported into a legal state via legal means, as early as next month they're suppose to start shipping. :naughty: but how big is the market here in the u.s. and prices are not going to be cheap

they ban them part for conservation, part to establish an order and estimate on the population. also, it drives up the prices, even on the export, on all the fish banned., this time around the ray prices will be at least 10 x more than what they use to be, how much will teh fisherman benefit? I don't know, but someone in the middle will rake in profits.

they need to lift the ban, as tropical fish export is a huge economy for the country of brazil, and the local fish collectors, and they need the money, they're not exactly a first world country.
