stingray floating on top of water?!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
is your powerhead pumping bubbles? air stone! air stone! stop f'in around..
post your water levels.. nitrite etc..
I bet your PH is to low... add crush coral to your system.. in your canister filter

by the sounds of it, just powerhead for water flow, no bubbles.

bcfd, i'm just wondering if he didn't notice the lvls changing because of doing the water changes and possibly not checking with test kits until he noticed the struggling rays.

Yes do a water change and add some prime or ammo lock ASAP

I don't mean to harp on you because I know your doing your best but this is why "my water is fine" is never a good response to hear.

I really hope all your rays are ok :(

Please test

PH
Ammonia
Nitrite
Nitrates

And then get back to us with the results we may be able to help still

im not "fing" around dude i had class and work all day time i got home every petstore was closed. im going tomorrow after class to get a pump and airstones

i did add ammo lock as well. i need to get the digital parameter readings im colorblind these kits are hard to use for me.

ph - 7.7ish its usually 7.5ish
nitrate - 20
nitrite - .5-1ish

and my water seems high in akline. like 250ish

sorry for the spelling and wording of my recent posts im using my itouch and i cant type well on here lol

Glad to see that your ammonia is dropping

I am still not sure exactly why your tank is cycling

Is it possible it never fully cycled before adding the rays?

It is also possible your water had a huge amount of chlorine/chloramine in it which could have caused the original distress in your rays. After the chlorine cleared up the BB die off caused a huge ammonia spike making the rays distressed again

I am leaning towards the second option at this point unless the tank is newly established. But then I cannot explain the amount nitrates even after several water changes. SO yah option 2 :)

You may want to call your city and see if they treated the water recently tomorrow as well just for piece of mind

the tank is fairly new. cycled for a month and i added my first ray after the initial ammonia spike. rays at the moment are doing okay, i guess. little heavy on the breathing but nowhere near as bad as last night. little bit of swimming just picking up the front of their disks

my retic is swimming up the divider, then going paralell to the bottom kind of swimming in the current against the divider. seems okay just every new behavior has me worried now
