Hey all, large female ray in my tank was starting to appear thinner - I assumed because the male had been harassing her too much - and her tail looked like it was starting to kink to one side, so I isolated her within the tank a week ago. She still eats, but today I noticed that it looks as though the skin over the tip of her tail is gone and just cartilage is exposed. Disc edges also look a little bit uneven, but I have never seen anything like this. I've done 3 30% water changes this week on the off chance that the nitrates were elevated, but none of the other fish, and none of the other rays are showing any symptoms. If anyone has any ideas, I'm open to them. Thank you in advance for your help!

Check all your parameters and preferably do larger wc I'm going to research another alternative.

Definitely check the parameters, do a 50 percent water change and raise the temp. Clean water and watch for infection

Some pics would help to. But first of parameters.

Parameters are pH 6.6 , Ammonia 0, Nitrite 0 and I'm 100% certain my nitrate test is ineffective because it says on all 7 of my tanks the nitrate level is 160+ ppm but I assure you that's not the case. Fish would be dying left and right. I would assume the nitrates are pretty low based on ammonia and nitrites in here and I'm running a sump with over 100 lbs of biomedia, an fx6 and multiple sponge filters on a 450 gallon tank...

Try to raise the pH a bit also add salt just watch and make sure your other fish can tolerate it. 1 tbs per five gallons.

Here are some photos. You can tell shes way too thin, still eating, but something is definitely bothering her.

Maybe try separating her into a hospital tank dose with salt and raise the temp. feed her by herself so she can take her time.
