Stingray in a 70g?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
and thats only small rays like 13" or less and even at that you would still be lucky to keep alive full term. i have 7 rays in a 800 gal. so if you looking for a good ray for a pet and no bigger then a 120 then you might look into a retick

Yeah a ton of people do a bunch of stupid things all the time that doesn't make it the best thing in the world now does it? I have had balas, silver dollars, tin foil barbs, clown loaches, and rainbows in with my rays. Everything eventually picked on them especially once they start breeding and they beat each other up a tad then they just pick at all the areas on the rays that are already picked at and it goes bad pretty fast. If you notice most (not all) of the ray keepers that are breeding rays have ray only tanks....there may just be a reason for this. And I believe it says in one of the stickies the best tank mates for rays.....is more rays :) I will never say I know it all but i know a fair bit when it comes to rays. I got my first retic in 2004 and now I have one of the only mature retics anybody has ever seen top that off with as far as I know I have the only breeding retics anywhere what I am doing must be working. Never said it's the only way but after trial and error and time I can tell you I have a ray only tank not because I wanted it to be that way but because thats what worked.

According to your MFK posts, you got your first retic in October of 2007. I'm just curious; were you keeping stingrays before you joined MFK?

Like I said I haven't heard or seen them. Find me other CB retics?? PS my original SN on here was grapedinox but MFK won't let me log onto that SN for some reason I have tried everything. And the fish I described that I had in my tank were all Non food size shoot my balas were all over 12+ inches same with the tin foils. My clown loaches were over 7+ inches when I sold them. ANd my silver dollars were 6+ inches around and an inch thick. I took fish nobody else could house because they had outgrown their tanks. But were easily housed in my 750. But please find me some more 14+ mature retics that are breeding successfully and I will gladly eat my words she is currently expecting her 6th litter and we have had and sold 16 pups currently.

Hey girl! How have you been since thw meet? PM me please I have your account fixed with a new password :)

I kept a reticulated ray in a 40 gallon for a year with doing maybe a 20 percent water change a month. Not much filtration either just a aquaclear 50 but the key was all the external plants i had they cleaned the water to 0 ppm of ammonia nitites and nitrates. I say go for it and if it doesnt work out you know you cant.
