Okay Glad everyone can concur with what Rayman and I were already talking about..

"True" Histrix have a holotype from southern Argentina..

the hobbyist 'True' Histrix is actually Potamotrygon cf. Histrix or Potamotrygon sp. "C" or the "Cururu Ray".. from the Rio Negro.

Man it will be hard enough to get away from the Rio Negro Histrix, etc.. with the stupid Peru false Histrix and a bunch of lackluster exporters just naming rays whatever their finger lands on in an outdated reference book.

I think its time for a new P# book!

time for a new book will come in the distant future when most species have been described thoroughly can be correctly identified.
As for the histrix from Peru, it probably isn't a histrix at all.

How did I miss meeting you?? Oh well, next time.

Agreed. I was talking to alot of people - but there wasn't enough time to meet everyone. Should have kept it a week long and had more 'mixer' type segments.

Agreed, there was soooo much info, it would have been nice to get to know people a little more. I keep going over the footage & I could watch this 3000 times & still not get all the info. My brain is still a buzz from all the information. It was a great experience to have a room full of the top pro's & hobbyists talking about rays. :nilly:

Send me the video, I will put it into text :D hell.. we can publish a book.

besides Mike's place in NY, (I'd definately go) would there be a concideration of holding it at Foxwoods or Moehican Sun in Conn., there are plenty of halls for meeting and hotel rooms there are fairly cheap and parking as well, as apposed to NY--hotels are outragous, parking rots...........Plus we could gamble at night.
Also not far From PA, NJ, NY and MA. --Just a thought
Oh yeah,,,,I'll buy a DVD or VHS if produced.

Another idea, How about a Stingray Symposium forum or chat where we can schedual times to have these open discussions.

I think they are planning to release a DVD sometime in the future. It has to be edited, copied, and permission has to be granted by those who spoke. Some of the material needs to be published before it is released.

Best time of my life! It was great to meet everyone there. Hope there will be another meet in the future! Words can't decribe how amazing the info and dicussions were?
