hello i was thinking about getting into stingrays and i have a question in how deep does a ray tank have to be ?? i found a fiberglass tank thats 10ft x 10ft by 12 inches high with a veiwing window on the front i was thinking of building it up on a platform in my basement but is it high enough ???

That seems a little low as my rays like to climb the walls and they are already reaching the top with their tail just about touching the bottom. The tank is 72" x 34" x 30" tall. The water only reaches to about 28". I think they would be stressed in a 12" tall tank but the footprint is great.

while i think a ray would prefer a tank a little higher, i highly doubt they would complain with a 10x10 footprint. theres plenty of room for them to swim around on the bottom all day long.

just ensure the tank is well covered incase they try to swim up

stingrays only climb because of small footprints, so they will be fine in a 10x10 foot print.

Yes yes 10X10 is very huge and great your stingrays will love it. I mean 1 foot is kinda shallow but I think the huge area will make up for it :D
