I'm not too sure why people are still doing the drip acclimation - I've had 30+ rays that I've just scooped and dumped and never lost a single one due to that. If you're getting your rays locally, your water is already probably almost identical - no point in acclimating. If your rays are coming from any distance, the water in the bag IS dirty, so get them out of the dirty water ASAP - scoop and dump!

I agree with Nic on the tank - if you can go 5x5, I haven't looked into prices but I'd think a 6x4, 8x3, or 8x4 would be comparably priced.

i scoop and dump too seems pointless putting dirty water out of the transport box/bag into the aquarium!

i have made the 5x5 out of plywood see my thread in diy section pics on there too,

i am just seeing if it is possible to make a plywood without leaking first and how good it comes out, if it does work the next will be long shallow and wide!;)

my rectic rays tried stinging my hand luckily i got builders hands and rhino skin palms lol!!! but the stinger on my new ray is massive in comparison to the size of her disk!

I would suggest just giving them to me. This usually works out!:naughty: I would say observe them closely and frequntly but don't mess with them too much (outside of water changes). I lost more rays trying to make sure everything was perfect. The good news is that you won't be able to take your eyes off of them so it won't be hard to keep track of subtle changes that might indicate a problem.

Good luck!
