Stocking 125 gallon. Green Terror and.....

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
How many can you typically have in a 125 gallon, and wont there be problems later if 2 of them pair up.?
I don't have any personal experience with them myself, but I'd guess a group of 6-8 maybe? Idk.. I'm sure Stanzzzz7 Stanzzzz7 will chime in later and answer all of your questions on them and give some details on his setups.

Use the search function on mfk and look up some of his thorichthys tanks, they're quite breathtaking. :)

Wow you weren't kidding. I went over Stanzzzz7 Stanzzzz7 threads and their gorgeous. I really like the idea of 12 meeki or possibly 6 meeki and 6 pasionis and some swordtails. I think I spelled those right. Definitely will be reading more into the species.

A thorichthys set up would work well in your tank. A group of twelve with some nice sword tails could be a very nice set up.
Don't worry if you get a pair, thorichthys kept in numbers will breed quite happily a few inches apart. I have had 4pairs all with fry at the same time in the same tank.
It's quite a sight to see.
I can't recommend thorichthys enough.
You could always try a harem of green terrors, 1 male and 3 females. They work well in harems.

Thanks for the feedback and great info. Your tanks look great by the way. I think a thorichthys tank sounds like a great setup, I'll have to look into a harem of green terrors as well and see if I can dig up any info or videos. Appreciate the ideas, I still got some time to setup and cycle, just trying to do my research.

A bit late to the party.... Welcome!

I have a trio of terrors in my 6’ tank. My male and two females. I’d recommend not putting any other cichlids with them.
Schoolers are great to add movement and more color. I’m very happy with mine.

Sounds awesome, what are you using for dither fish.?

7 giant danios, 4 rainbowfish, and my kids two glotetras are in there still too.

I’d like to clean my group up in the future with just rainbowfish. But everything has been working great as is.

That's awesome that the GT's don't cause your rainbows any problems. I have several Bosemanne is another tank. sound like everyrhing is going smoothly. Are the GT's adults yet?
