Bob, im not crazy about the crushed shells. Fish sifting through the substrate may injure themselves on the sharp edges. Hopefully theyll learn not to sift it but its their instinct to do so. good luck bud.

Ah the dreaded venting technique. When they get bigger (and how much bigger would they need to be?) is there another way to sex them?
