Stocking a 300g 8Lx24Wx30H

Thanks its my first monster :) supper exicted about it lol. I know iv'e seen the General -.- hes amazing. But ive also seen some really nice community tanks :/ and im thinking with pair jd, pair gt, pair veija synspilum, and some dithers would look cool..

I know I think with a couple indo dats thrown in there and a ray it is the ultimate. But im waiting for a 480 or 500 to start that kind of tank ;)
 
In a tank that wide I would suggest just stocking lots of medium sized fish, you can choose a variety of colours and species and because of all that length you can make more territories for the fish.
you could try havinhg a shoal of silver dollars too that would look awesome
 
Ok whole new plan! How about I put the jd pair in the 150 and the 10 ornatum in the 300 to try and get a pair. Would it work if I get like 7 festae same size as the ornatum and grow them out and obtain an ornatum and fesate pair in the 300.
 
i hate to say it but some of the best in the business have tried the ornatum to no avail and they grow at a snails pace so imo trying to breed ornatum is a big waste of money and time the first guy who had them in the us has had them for like 3 years and they have yet to spawn so you could be waiting a long time. although festae and the ornatum is a good combo for the 300 id add a school of silver dollars to that and would be a beautiful tank but i wouldnt plan on an ornatum spawn any time soon or ever.
 
Maybe i can one been one of the best in business everyone started somewhere :).. If your talking about mel O yea his never spawned but you never know. They grow slow but not that slow many say almost the same rate as festae, being in a 300 and wc and good feeding they should grow at a decent rate. Im starting of with ten at 2"s so maybe with them having so many to pick from a pair will come out.. And so are you saying that festae and ornatums can live in a 300g with some dither dollars with minimal problems. Of course you never know the personality of the fish you end up having but in general should it work. A ornatum festae tank would be realll nicccee :)
