Sounds good. Is this an immediate thing, or do I have time to wait to upgrade?

Thanks for all your help Big Gourami, and everyone else!!!!

Here is an update:

I have the tank up and running, I am adding salt to it, trying to get my Salinity at the proper level. I have one 15 lb bag of crushed coral in it.

I have 2 20lb bags of live sand waiting to go in, once I have my Salinity level proper.

Later today, I will go pick up live rock.

Hey BG, what do you mean by replacing it with live rock rubble? I put the rubble where the bioballs are?

yes put it where the bioballs are, or if you get that skimmer i was talking about ( BC29R ) that takes place of the balls

Awesome, thanks guys.

One last question (I hope): Mom wants the anenomes and coral. She has her heart set on a reef tank.

I can buy a good 8-10lbs of live rock right now. Would it be bad to slowly add live rock, or do I have to wait and buy all 30 to 40 lbs at once?

i dont see a problem in adding slowly

i still buy rock from time to time if i see a piece i like i'll get it

Awesome, awesome.

I am about to go to the LFS to pick me up some rock. I just put in 2 bags of live sand. I have about 2-2.5" of sand at the bottom. =)

yeah you have time i would just do it before the tank get's really heavily stocked.. maybe by the first 2-3 fish

ow.... i honestly would have mized smaller doses of SW in like a clean trashcan and added them in after the sand.. it'd stay less cloudy that way.. which is the only problem, it's not unsafe or anything.. it'd just take an extra day or so to fully clear up.. maybe just a tip for the future

yes as stated just rmove the bioball and add smallish pecies of LR to the back part where the BB's were

adding slowly is fine. only con is the die-off that comes with each piece of rock.
buying fully cured, or curing it yourself solves this little one.. :D

but yeah you could even use some base rock if you wanted to.. use that on the bottom and cover it with the live..

Just added 6 blue legged hermit crabs

hermits disapear quickly in my biocube land haha i get 4 or 5 weekly.

Salinity level proper
i highly recomend a hand held refractometer. i have the RHS-10ATC model and paied 50$ for it. best 50 $ ever. very easy to use clean and read. only reason i recomend it is i had the stick on glass one before and it was inaccurate because of bubbles on the needle ect. ( yes i did take it out and washed it )
