stocking advice?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
No jags in a 55 for life, if it could be done I would not have an empty 55 right now :), you could get a jag and use your 55 as a grow out tank for some time but in the end they need a bigger tank. You could do a GT but it would have to be a single fish tank like stated already, thats what mine was for until I lost my GT to internal parasites, now I just not sure what to replace him with.

Like said above a 55G could work as a growout for a Jag.
It could hold one until it gets atleast 10'' IMO.

i agree with the con's,gt,and dempsey.not the jag.gets way to big for a 55

Yes, and he specifically said "for life," so IMHO the Jag is out of the question. I think the GT fits the need better if you are planning on a 1-fish tank.

When you see things like "a jag will be fine in a 55," with NO qualifications (like saying only for a while), remember that there are no particular qualifications required to post here - anyone can answer, even people who have little knowledge or experience. You've got to be careful!!!

thanks for the input guys. i think im gonna stick with either a jd or gt.

Best wishes for your move and your new tank, and I DO hope you can get the 240 from your uncle!!!

man i do to. i am planning on building a pong down there, my dad has 15 acres and i was thinking of digging a mini lake and stocking it with bass and cat fish, but if i dont build the pond i want that 240.
