Stocking ideas for 60 gallon?

Ok so I would prefer to have a pair in my 125 gallon. I have a red devil in there now but Im no good at sexing so I would not know how to find a mate for my red devil. I think I am going to make my 60 gallon a grow out tank. I would like to get a few*tilapia buttikoferi, red terrors or trimacs and wait for them to pair up. Out of the 3 I just mentioned which would be the best pair for my 125 gallon?

Trimacs, festae are very hard on their mates so a divider may be necessary even a 125. I can count the number of people who've bred Butti on 1 hand, very hard to sex and down right evil

If the 3 I listed will not be able to live peacefully in a 125 then what are some other options... Like how will oscars work? I am more interested in getting a pair of fish that can live together then I am breeding them. Im not really interested in high survival rate of the fry because I would have no one to give all those babies too.

An Oscar pair would be perfect for a 125

Really? Could I grow them out for a while in my 60 gallon? Will an albino and a reg tiger oscar mate?

My albino and tiger O's tried to mate (fertilized eggs) but with all the other predators in the tank I never got to see any fry.

Note that they never tried in my 125, as a matter of fact my female bullied my male when they were in there together (I actually had to separate them for a month or two). It took a 345 to get her to stop picking on him and start trying to spawn. Of course my female (tiger) was the meanest of the 3 O's I have kept, if the other female (lutino) I have now had been in the 125 with my male (albino), then they may have tried to spawn in there.

On a side note, you may want to use the 125 as a grow out for the Oscars if you are wanting to breed them. They are damn near impossible to sex, so you'll probably have to wait for a pair to form, meaning you'll probably have to start with a few of them to find a pair. That shouldn't be a problem with the foot print of a 125.

If you're not worried about breeding and just want 2 large O's in there, then there is no need to buy multiple O's. Just put two in there of similar size and hope for the best.

To answer your question about growing them out in the 60: I'd say sure but be prepared to move them over to the 125 by the time they hit 5-6". As always with any cichlid; be prepared to have to move one to another tank if they start to fight constantly with one another. (The 60 wouldn't cut it for an adult, I'd suggest a 75 minimum).
