Hello,

i have an empty 80- gallon tank and want something pretty large to make it more interesting.
Which species is more active, a walking catfish or a golden cobra snakehead?
I know it is little space but should be sufficient, for a single fish.

No on the snakehead they get 14 to 20 inches, If you want to do a single big fish you could do a Electric Blue Jack Dempsey they look absolutely gorgeous as juvies and adults. Hope this helps!

There are plenty of snakeheads that stay well under a foot.

instead of a snakehead why dont you consider a red wolfish. I think they can live in an 80 gallon for life. Someone will correct me if im wrong!
More than enough space for one in a 80. They can live in 40s. I’m not sure but I think multiple can be in a 80.

For snakes look into Channa Brunna.

Thanks a lot, I really like Channa aurantimaculata, because of its coloration.
Most other snakeheads are far less colorful or even bigger.
I try to purchase a captive bred one, but there are wild caught available at the moment, only.
So I will wait for the right moment.
And as far as I know 80 gallons, or 300 litres are ok for one, 2 should have 120 gallons.
But this fish is notorious for killing its mates in captivity and is best kept solo.
If I see it looks cramped I would upgrade or trade it in.

I’ve read 90, so 80 isn’t necessarily a stretch. What are the dimensions of the tank?
As long as you have a plan for when it grows (and are true to that plan, there are plenty of people who just say that), it can work out.
