Taller isnt going to help you with stocking imo length and width do. Yes i think it would be fine, i dont think the long term stock with be a problem. But you need to prepare for all the drama and loads of wc's 55 and 75 gals arent big tanks. I know its not long term but tmperments change. Your o is 3 inches now in another for months he could be a chunky 7 or 8 inches if taken care of.
Yeah. These bad boys grow like 1.5 a month if not more until like 9", it's insane.
And when I picked up the 75 I kept explaining to my girl how this is a small tank, she didn't understand how this won't be enough. I can't g more than 8' long and maybe 26-28 deep. Tall I could maybe do 30-32 ish.
Taller tanks are ok but i have 150 same dimensions as a 125 just taller. Yes it does give you more gallons and which may buy a lil extra time between water changes but imo its a p.i.t.a to clean being higher up (pretty sure its 29 high) so imo stocking a 125 and 150 would be the same...
Two tanks i think are absolute wastes when it comes to cichlids are 55 gal and 150...eeehhh live and learn right
Can't 100% sex a JD at that size but it's easier to guess than some others. Males will have more body scaling and females will have a blue "beard" again, at that size it's not 100% as they may not be showing it well but some may be.
I think you would be fine either way in a 300 gal but i would be concerned with keeping all those fish in a 75 if my goal was to have no deaths, injury and keeping all long term
True. Maybe I'll try to get this tank going even sooner if possible. Today I'm going to rearrange my living room to see exactly how big I want to go with it.
Anyone know how thick the glass would need to be if it's 94"x32"?
I would definitly start a topic in the diy section for the glass thickness. Also with that tank you have tons of stocking options i would check out other members threads on different fish. Lots of different combos could work with oscars in a tank that size.
