I am actively searching for a few more polypterus for my tank, but I don't want to over stock.

I have a 90 gallon right now that I hope to upgrade to at least 125 as soon as I come across one. But for now, I'm stuck at 90.

Currently, I have:
9" Sen
8" endli
7-8" ornate
6" buett
4" peacock bass
6-7" pike characin
2 XL angels
5" pike cichlid
2 pearl gouramis
3 Congo tetras

I waant to get a teugelsi, nile, delhezi at least. Will that be ok or should I wait for the bigger tank ( it's coming either way)?

Also, I'm getting into gar now too and may pick up a spotted gar and needle nose. Would these be compatible with polypterus short or long term? Or should I just go for two separate tanks from the get-go?

Thanks in advanced

Right now you could probably add a couple more upper jaw and non ornate, teugelsi, or weeksii. Even with a 125 though I would get more than a couple lower jaws. Assuming the 125 has an 18" width, that'll be a bit smaller than what Lower jaws need. A PBB especially since they are usually imported at sizes around or larger than 18".

As far as it goes for gar, they would be fine together, but the gar won't fit in a 125. One thing I will say is I am not 100% sure on the tank size required for the "needle nose gar" as it isn't an actual gar.

Basically anything smaller than 24" I wouldn't get any gar, lower jaw, or the 3 bigger upper jaws as they would out grow almost anything (at least standard dimensions wise) smaller than 24"

Thanks guys. I wish I could go larger but unfortunately I don't have the space. In the next few years I'd like to get the floor reinforced and do a 210. That would at least open up the options for some of the other species :)

Also have a 55 gallon sump. Forgot to mention that, not that it matters for space aspect, just water quality :)

I guess you can get a weeksii, since alot of people say they grow slow, by the time it get to its max size you probably have a bigger tank by then.

Needle nose gar don't get big at all with the fish u have. It'll get eaten alive or die due to being often brackish fish.

The pike characin will also be a meal of u decide on lower jaws. Ornate or teugelsi will eat it as well. Weeksii may leave it alone.

A spotted gar will need bigger space. Wait for the 210 upgrade.

Keep with the smaller upper jaw polys for now.

Ok, so no gar, that's not an issue. I like my polys more anyways

I do already know I'll have to adjust my stock as my polys grow. The congos, the angels, the gouramis, the characin, they are mostly to give movement to the rest of the tank since the polys are mostly just on the bottom. They won't be in there long term and I knew that from the start

Your endli, pbass, or pike may get 'em. Sorry bud!
