If I were to set up my new 75 gallon as a native tank I'm wondering what would be some good fish to put in there? I don't want to overstock the tank. I'm looking for reasonable lifetime stocking suggestions. I have crappie, bass, bluegill, and other Midwest fish around me available. Just looking for suggestions.

Community tank or gamefish tank?

i would keep it at around 75 or so. if you want to keep a bass, you will need to eventually upgrade. the others would be fine though. if you can try to get a bullhead. they are neat fish and do not grow too large. they will eat anything they can fit into there mouth though so keep that in mind when finding tank mated for them. you could put some crawdads in there as well. you can find them at bait stores usually. a perch of drum would be good ideas as well.

i suppose i was just reading the thread n needed one more post to be up for MFK membership. just kinda threw it out there.

yellow perch would be nice. Creek Chubs and fall fish could be nice as well. You may do ok with certain types of pan fish but they can get aggressive.

bluegill, crappie, and most bass will be too big for a 75. rock bass would fit. you'll be ok with anything that stays under 12", dependent on proper stocking.
kontra's idea of a northern sunny is a good one, although I'd say they were more colorful than beastly. they're small enough I'd probably go for 8 or so as opposed to it being a centerpiece fish, but it would work well with in a dace and darter tank.
