Stocking suggestions for a native tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Take a look at Paul Sachs site http://www.aquaculturestore.com/ that should give you some good ideas, and info. Also Brian Zimmerman http://www.zimmermansfish.com/ has some pretty cool stuff.

Just to get ideas though, im sure you want to try to catch your own fish, but sometimes, there are species that might work better than your local species, that you can get from those guys. Both are great dealers, and very reliable shippers.

This is NOT!! a paid advertisement :) just like to help out other Native Fish Keepers LOL

They certainly are, here is a pic of one of Brians fish

If you want aggressive fish, a 75g would be perfect for Longears, Dollars, or Spotted sunfish; you can also put in Large Madtoms (Stonecats, Checkered etc) and Large Shiners, Chubs or Killifish ( Northern Studfish or the Seminole Killifish). Btdarters and Jonahs aquarium are also good native fish sellers.

Wow, there are a lot more choices than I originally thought. I was thinking you had a few types of bass, some bluegill, crappie, and a couple types of catfish. I'll have to do some more checking into this. Thanks for all the info guys.

I checked out that Zimmerman's fish website. If I decide to go ahead with the native tank, that is definitely where I'll be ordering from. Thanks everyone for all of the info and advice.
