I have a senegal. And it's still not very big. Does they grow fast? I have never seen a leaf fish in our LFS. So i guess, i can't find it there. Any other suggestions, maybe some african or american species. Maybe several convicts or a single Jack Dempsey?

I have been thinking about taking some livebearers .Beacause my bichir is small so he can't eat them but he will eat the babys. And when he grow enough to eat the parents i am going to take the bigger tankmates. Untill then i am going to have enough time to find some of the more uncommon species. Is that a good idea?

^ i dont want to sound rude, but since you are so keen on owning monster fish, i would seriously urge you to buy a bigger tank, before buying larger fish...

I really want to ,but i don't have the opportunity right now. I know i can't have a oscar or something that big for my aquarium ,so my idea is until i find something suitable for my tank. To keep the bichir with some swordfish in that way he will have enough amount of live food and the aquarium will be more dynamic. After the bichir grow big enough he will eat them but by then i maybe would have found the right fish. :)

How about Exodon paradoxus?

I like them but i am concerned about my bichir. The article i read about them says that they are very agressive towards other species. So, I am looking for some active peaceful fish which are not going to be eaten. Maybe a shoal of some silver dollars? Like three or more.

You know that you don't have much room for other fish when your bichir is fully grown. And I don't think that your tank is suitable to house a school of silver dollars.

Yeah you are right. Can someone tell me some fishes who are peaceful and active and won't bother my bichir.
