Ive been looking into all the different ways to get a 300+ gallon tank and a stock tank seems to be the answer. But I dont want a normal pond! I want to see my fish so my question is:

Is there a way to add a viewing to window to the tank? Maybe use acrylic?

Im not sure what size tank I want yet but some seem to have a flat side so I was thinking a window could be added there.

well i have put this reply in one other reply too but i think its a great idea i just dont have to resources, and permission(wife) to do it! but i saw a post on portabuddy's pond thread that most would just not pay much attention to but i thought it was amazing well... he said his brother had joked that they should extend the inground pond to the house and then create a viewing window in the basement, but portabuddy laughed it off and diddnt think much of it until it was too late!

So i think youmcould do something along that line put the pond up next to the building if its an inground pond add the window in the basent if its outta ground put the window through a wall! :D hope it works out for u!

You can. Just cut the hole and bolt the plexi glass to it every 2 inches or so. If its a major curve, pre form bend it.

I think you misunderstood the "pond" part as it's going to be "IN" the house I beleive and by "stocktank" I think it's one of those Rubbermaid type 300 gallon type of Stock tanks that was being reffered to.

I've seen it done on some website somewhere, I'm sure if you were to google it you could find how it was done. If I remember correctly they used Silicone as a "Gasket" not for holding the Acrylic in the tank but just as the seal and allowed the bolts that they used to put the pressure for the actual seal pressure and to hold it together... I would think it would be relativly cheap and effective if done properly.

Good luck on this should you decide to do it, and keep us all informed with lots of pics ;)

ok, usually when someone refers to pond it usually is a pond! instead of a large plastic "container"

Nice idea in theory, but have you considered the ramifications of temperature differentials and water pressure?
