#stoked - stock order in from Gunpowder Aquatics

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Really nice setup, I recieved my order from gunpowder about a week ago. I highly recomend them.

Not sure why you ordered fish that are at pretty much any lfs.

Not sure why you commented without knowing what my lfs stock or how much they charge to bring stock in.

Thanks everyone. Wife loves the setup and is really happy with how it's turned out. We read about the blue acara being a potential hazard for the neons, but will see how it pans out and move to another tank if need be.

as far as cichlids go blue acaras are pretty docile. They might chase them a bit but nothing serious.

Or maybe I've been to more fish shops and know more about fish keeping than you. I've probably ordered more fish online and collected more tropical fish in the wild than you have too.

You're being counterproductive to the thread. Nothing you're saying is constructive.

He may be stuck in a situation like I am where the nearest quality LFS is an hour away and shipping from places in the same state saves on time since it costs the same to ship as it does to drive a two hour round trip.

As for why he might buy online rather than go to a store, its easy. They often don't offer the quality some of us seek or simply don't have the fish we want in stock. For early generation stock, most stores can't trace their stock back to their own parents, let alone their country of origin (only applies if wild of course). Blue acaras are notoriously cross bred with green terrors, so it's wiser to purchase them from a reliable source rather than taking a store employee' sword for it. It's could also be true that his LFS doesn't stock the fish he wanted in the quantities he wanted. How often do you go into stores where they have more than 4 cichlids of a specific species? For me that occurrence is rather rare (my hour away LFSs aren't very big).

So try to be a little more understanding on people's motives, especially when it doesn't affect you personally. There is no need to get hostile with someone simply because they didn't go about doing something the way you would.

Since you want to continue to be an ignorant know it all I'll let you in on a little secret. The only lfs that can get redhead tapajos here wants 35$ per 2" fish. 35x12 you do the math mr know it all.

I could give 2 flips how much you've bought or where you've been. It clearly doesn't matter since you still know nothing about my area and what they charge to bring in specific stock. The tapajos alone were worth buying from an online vendor. If I took your genius 'advice' id have paid over 1200$ after taxes for suspect quality fish. Instead I paid about 1/3 of that. Maybe you should spend some time in an economics class instead of touting your supposed knowledge on fish keeping.

Not all of us are blessed to have an LFS that stock a large selection of fish and then not mark it up 1.5-3x over wholesale.

I would like to thank you, however, for proving that Internet Jackholes exist every where and routinely go out of their way to make themselves known.

Thx. My "I think I'm 7 now" yo daughter spends hrs looking at it quite literally since we got it stocked. Planning to go out and getting her and her sister 20g longs each. Told them if they still like it when the next dollar per gallon sale is on, I'll get them each 55s. They started trying to figure out what they could and couldn't stock immediately, lol.
