Here are pics of the stonefish I got yesterday. They like to hide up at the top in the corner by the heater. I don't know how big they get, what they eat, I think fish bigger than their mouths are safe, or faster swimming. They are cool. I don't see many threads on them. Why?
Pics of the stones and others of my relaxing area. The no smoking signs are just cigar store humer.

That's a sweet looking room. They are known as toadfish also, this is the commonly sold species that is a brackish water fish, Batrachus trispinosus. Daector quadrizonatus and Thalassophryne amazonica are both true fw toadfish, although you don't see them as much, but are available.

Nice fish. Like the eyes.

They are able to eat fish that you would think are safe so be careful with tankmates and they're not very active, more of an ambush predator. Im no expert....hope this helps.

Yeah, they are ambush predators, like to be able to bury too. I think they do better in brackish conditions and is better for there long term health, but many people keep them in brackish. Can keep them with other fish if they aren't too small (to be eaten) or too big to try and eat it. It wouldn't be good if one of your fish thought it was a meal... probably end up with two dead fish.

Looked up B. trispinosus. Found they like 1.01 sp gravity. I don't know if my lungfish, scombs. and jardini would like any brackish water at all. I think I'll just wait and see how the frogies do without brackish water. If they don't do ok, better loose a couple $10 fish than any of the others.

nice fish room.... stone fish is very nice as well...

A lot of people have trouble keeping them alive even in brackish.. I hope they do good for you. Oh and they are poisonous as well so be careful handling them.

Indeed once they stop feeding it's hard to make them start again. They are reasonably timid too, and like to feel safe and secure.

No none of your other fish will like brackish conditions and will die shortly, the toadfish is living because they are found in esturies and therefore salinities fluctuate and sometimes they are found in fw areas and sometimes full salt. Bit of a blase attitude, but I guess it's a situation some people find themselves in when they don't know what they are buying.
