You people that were having problems with the toadfish... what were you feeding them? I had a saltwater one (Opsanus tao, IIRC) for several years. Fed it shell fish, the occasional live shrimp or crab. He thrived. But he was messy and required big frequent water changes and lots of filtration. Not very interesting outside of feeding time, except you could occasionally hear him grunting.

Your toadfish are brackish and should have some salt in there water there very cool fish so it would be worth it to give them a brackish tank
For food try shrimp, squid, krill and fish fillets or dead fish like silver sides if possible you may have a hard time getting them off of live food if thats all they will eat
