I bought a 25' clear plastic hose... a threaded end piece, like on a garden hose... and a fitting for my kitchen sink that allows the hose to be fitted...

I use that same 25' hose to siphon water to the garden (plants love tank water)...

Then I attach the hose to my kitchen sink and refill... adding prime as I do...

carrying 5 gal buckets was okay for a few tanks/years... but as I got older and I got more tanks, the longer hose became a necessity.

I can't beleive how lucky most of you are with your tap water!
In my town we have super soft water which from what I understand degrades our water pipe infrastructure, so our treament plant jacks the pH up to over 9.5 and adds chloramine. If I did a water change from the tap my fish would go belly up. I have to fill a holding tank, add Prime, then lower the pH by ageing and running with driftwood for at least 4 days. Then because it is so soft, if I add it straight to my tanks, the pH will drop like a stone. Since most of my fish like harder water I have to add a home made buffer of Epsom salt and marine salt to raise GH and baking soda to raise the KH to stabilize my pH at about 7.0-7.2.

Straight from tap, I add chemicals only when I remember and when the bottle isn't empty. Water's super hard though but since the entire city's water is that way the fish I buy are already aclimated from the lfs' tank water. No problems yet.
