I think I am pulling us off topic. You and I agree on the whole issue.
If "strains" become popular like what a lot of people in this thread are predicting. Keepers like you and I will simply have to work together to keep the fish we like available to the hobby. As well as making sure that we keep multiple breeding pairs and trade stock periodically with people working with the same species/location variant.
I hope to have another 50 years of fish keeping in me. I want to have the option to keep the fish I like regardless of what other people are doing, and regardless of the political situation of the countries my fish come from.
