Strange jag behavior,

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I apologize my comment was out of line, I'm just getting worried and frustrated, just really love this fish and want to enjoy him, and haven't been able to have the light on my tank more than a few minutes a day for the past week now.he came from a fairly heavily stocked tank, boredom a possibility, I've just never had a fish that took this long to adjust

No worries bro, I can understand; he is a definite monster and I'd be the same. Ideally he will just be a bit temperamental but will come round :)

I've been thinking back, is it possible he swallowed a piece of gravel and cannot pass it? The day before he started acting like this he was trying to get a crayfish that was in the tank left from when I had my tsn, I remember him getting nothing but a mouthful of graveland shaking it out.possibly bowel obstruction?

It's possible but not likely... my jag digs all the time and have even seen him "throw up" small pieces of gravel a few minutes after he stops digging. He was probably stressed, finally got settled in, then you rearranged the tank and now he may just be stressed again. I'd do what u did before and leave the lights off for a few days and maybe add a half dose of aquarium salt, although I'm not sure what effect it has on crayfish. Then just leave the tank the way it is and let him establish his territory and hopefully in another day or 2 he'll be settled in again.

The idea of an illness is always possibile however in this instance I don't think so. How's your water? Have you checked your parameters? I think moving everything around after he just settled in stressed him out again. Leave him alone for a little while, keep the water and environmet clean and watch him for any other signs of distress. Otherwise let him get used to the tank again.

Thank you my parameters are still the same as before, will try 1/2 dose of salt.the crayfish is of really no concern, he was intended as food anyway. Will keep the lights off ,and possibly add topwater cover plants? I appreciate the helpwill keep posted
