Strange tiger oscar!

i didnt know they were wild.my lfs sold them to me as black oscars

that don't look like a wild caught to me. wild caught are generally black or dark grey or green with a bit of red marking on them around the ocellei nothing compared to the oscars in shops. yours just looks like an oscar with little red marking, unless they are Crassipinnis which normally don't have much red at all.

if i am not mistaken there are in fact 3 species of oscar. Astronotus Ocellatus, Crassipinnis and Orbiculatus.

the very first oscar of the thread looks more like its derived from Crassipinnis. not having much red but mainly black and grey with small white markings.

Dont wild oscars tend to have more than 1 ocellat? Shear Heaven, a LFS near me has a wild adult for $39-too bad I dont have room for him.
